If you’re looking to try something new this spooky season and get out of your comfort zone, we’ve got a few ideas that’ll send a chill straight up your backside. Have a look…
Witchstock Festival: Historic 25th Street Association hosts the annual Witchstock Festival at the Ogden City Amphitheater on October 22nd. In 2014, Witchstock partnered with the Zombie Crawl to combine two of Ogden’s favorite Halloween events into one great evening downtown! This year’s even bigger, and aside from the tea party, all events are free. Please bring canned food to donate for the Zombie Crawl.
Dia de los Muertos at Thanksgiving Point: Legend has it that on Dia de los Muertos, the dead join us as a part of our community, awakened from their eternal sleep to share celebrations with loved ones. You’re invited to build an altar inviting a loved one to enjoy the fragrance of marigolds and delicious pan de Muerto (bread of the dead). A community altar will be available at the event to write notes or share mementos in celebration of souls no longer on Earth. There’s tons of crafts and activities in the Show Barn. The festival runs October 29th from 11am-8pm. Adults: $8 in advance, $10 day-of, kids 12 and under free.
Halloween Pirate Cruise on the Provo River: Take a ride on the river with hundreds of Jack O’ Lanterns reflecting off the water as your captain tells you spooky tales of pirate attacks and old legends. There’s a free movie to witch while you’re waiting and treats to purchase. Tickets are $8 per person, kids 2 and under are free. Click here for a $1.00 off coupon.
Trick or Treat Street at the Utah Olympic Oval: Throw the costumes on the kids and do a dress rehearsal for Halloween on Trick or Treat Street. There’s piles of candy, vendors, activities, and parents are encouraged to dress up, too. The event is free, and ice skating is free for kids 12 and under (though skate rentals are $3.00.) The event is Friday, October 21 from 6:30-10pm.
Night At The Museum Ghost Tours: Ogden’s Union Station is notorious for hauntings, and here’s your chance to find out for yourself. This is a walking tour through Union Station, both upstairs and downstairs, into the basement vaults, and completely in the dark (all of the lights are turned off). You will be guided by a group of professional paranormal investigators who have investigated the Station. Tours will be guided to various points around the building where your guides will conduct an investigation and share their haunted stories about the Station. You are welcome to bring your own recording equipment and cameras. Friday and Saturday, October 21-22. Tickets are $25 per person.
