Free–Or Cheap–Weekend Family Holiday Fun Along The Wasatch Front – This is that last wobbly sort of weekend where we’re almost into the Holiday madness, and yet…  If you’re ready to plunge, there’s plenty to do.  If you’re more in the “Bah, Humbug!” stage, stay in denial as long as you like with non-holiday goodness.  We’re here for you, honey.

Friday: 

All day: The Elves are back at Gardner Village!  Participate in our Elf Scavenger Hunt. The hunt starts on November 21st and goes through December 24th, so grab your camera and bring your kids as you make memories with the magical elves of Gardner Village. Print your Elf Scavenger Hunt form here.  Admission and activity is free.

5:15pm: “Mommy (Or Daddy) and Me” movement, dance and activity class for kids 18 months up to 4 years at the Utah Children’s Theatre.  $29.00 for a month’s worth of classes!

6:00pm: Lighting of the Riverwoods: see all the lights blaze on at The Riverwoods in Provo–shows at 7 and 8 and treats–admission is free.

6:00pm: Eat Like A Pilgrim at Thanksgiving Point – eat like the original pilgrims, play their games, learn the activities!  Tickets $22-28

7:00pm: Apollo Ohno Speed Skating Short Track Invitational at the ESA in SLC.  Tickets $10-20.

8:00pm: Dr. Seuss’ “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” Capitol Theatre.  Runs through next Saturday.  Tickets $55-90.

Saturday:

9:00am: The Mt. Timpanogos Turkey Trot: join the state’s most casual 5K and raise money for folks in the community needing medical help.  Tickets: your donation.

10:00am: Nature Walk – Swaner Ecological Preserve, Park City.  $5.00.

10a-6p: Rocky Mountain Holiday Boutique – Bountiful.  Shop your little heart out.  If you’re like me, just pretend you made it yourself.  Free admission.

10a-2p: The Salt Lake City Farmer’s Winter Market is back!  60 vendors with food, crafts and goodies.  Rio Grande Depot, free admission.

11a-3p: Free Thanksgiving Centerpiece kid’s craft at Lakeshore Learning.

12noon: Free Family Fun Day at Macy’s in City Creek Mall.  Free face painting, prizes and activities, like ornament making and playing with animals from Utah’s Hogle Zoo.

12n-3p: Giving Back: Ronald McDonald House in SLC.  Join Todd & Erin to raise funds for the ill children and their families who stay at the RMH.  We’ll have cookies, prizes and tours of the house!

4pm: Dress up as Santa Claus for the Utah Santa Run at Gateway Mall in SLC!  Donations $36-46.00

5:30pm: Light Up The Night at Gateway Mall – Watch the lights get flipped for the whole mall–and meet Santa, listen to musical acts and play.  Free admission.

7:00pm: Utah Jazz vs. New Orleans Pelicans – ESA in SLC, tickets $12-300

Sunday:

9:00am: Elf Scavenger Hunt at Gardner Village – free admission.  Find all the Christmas Elves and their hiding spots around the village!

1:00pm: Dr. Seuss’ “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” Capitol Theatre, tickets $25-200.

2:00pm: “12 Minutes Max” performance art at the Main SLC Library Downtown.  Dance, art, poetry and music. Free admission.
