Is this the end of Apu?
After 30 years Actor, Hank Azaria told Slashfilm he will no longer voice The Simpsons character convenience store clerk Apu, saying “What writers will do with the character is their call.”
Apu has long been a controversial Simpsons character which critics have called a “racist stereotype.” A 2017 documentary called “The Problem with Apu” said the character drove stereotypes of south Asians. The show’s creators haven’t specified why Azaria will no longer voice Apu.
