Madonna Recalls “Teenage Quarantine” Days In Bay City In One Photo

Madonna shared a childhood picture of her Bay City, Detroit home.

Bay City is Madonna’s birthplace and the location where she spent summers with her grandparents.
“Teenage Quarantine………….. #baycity #backyard,” Madonna captioned the photo.

The city’s Facebook page reposted the photo with the caption: “Thank you to our Material Girl for sharing this look back at her Bay City days!” along with lyrics from her 1992 song, “This Used to Be My Playground.”

During a 1987 interview with Jane Pauley on The Today Show, Madonna called the town “smelly” which she got some backlash for. Madonna was clearly describing the smell of the petroleum plant nearby, “I have great affection for Bay City,” said Madonna within the same interview.
