New Year’s Eve Madness Along The Wasatch Front
Not that playing Pictionary with Aunt Ethel while Uncle Earl rails against the government and eats all the crab dip isn’t super, duper exciting, but maybe it’s time to up your game when it comes to New Year’s Eve festivities. Take a look at the huge list of Awesome below, and make your apologies to Auntie Ethel. (Better yet, bring Ethel with you and leave Uncle Earl at home with the crab dip.)
Salt Lake City:
The EVE 2015 celebrations are already underway, and it’s much cheaper to just buy a 3 day pass. You can ice skate at the Gallivan Center, catch the Silent Film Festival at the Broadway Theatres, and even roll around in the “Ball Room” with hundreds of balls sized 6 inches to 6 feet across–all for the price of the one ticket.
Monday 12.29: Highlights include The Brick Yard: a gigantic room of Legos in every shape and size. Free films at Clark Planetarium. Laughing Stock Comedy & Improv at Off-Broadway Theatre and DJ Jarvicious spinning all night at the Ski City DJ Plaza.
Tuesday 12.30: Highlights? You’ll love the Hoop De Doo party with music, dancing and glow in the dark hula hoops. Utah’s Children’s Theatre presents “Shakespeare’s Shorts” at the Salt Palace. The Sambo Fogo jazz and fire performance is indoors at the Salt Palace.
Wednesday 12.31: Start with the “Noon Year’s Eve” Celebration at the Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum at, uh, noon. There’s a U2 light show at the Clark planetarium. The Kenshin Taiko Drummers take over the Salt Palace.
Fireworks: cancelled due to air quality concerns.
Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort: has a torchlight parade down the mountain at 6pm, then fireworks at 6:30pm. More info here.
