Spending The Holidays With People I Want To Punch In The Throat. I found Jen Mann, the infamous brain behind the blog “People I Want To Punch In The Throat” right around her “Elf on the Shelf” phase, where she also questioned the logic behing the Elf on the Shelf and certain other overachieving holiday obligations. I’ve followed her in an obsessive and creepy FanGirl way ever since. Behold then, the Awesome of her new book “Spending The Holidays With People I Want To Punch In The Throat.” There’s lovely stories of the “Ho-ho Humblebraggers,” but on Jen’s naughty list: mothers who go way overboard with their Elf on the Shelf, overzealous carolers who can’t take a hint, and people who write their Christmas cards in the third person (“Joyce is enjoying Bunko. Yeah, Joyce, we know you wrote this letter.”)

We had the chance to talk to Jen this week about her new book, the world’s worst first date, her undying devotion to Tina Fey, and even more holiday weirdness. I’ll have to admit, I squee’d like a fangirl. Not proud, but there you go. My favorite quote: when I asked her if she’d ever regretted a post she’d written, Jen paused and then said “never! No!” Pause. “Well, except for some of the grammar.” Have a listen, but be prepared to break out in a full-on witch cackle. She’s that funny.
