Sully Erna’s Favorite Albums Growing Up

We all have those albums that helped shape our teenage years. Godsmack’s Sully Erna recently told Loudwire about his favorite albums from when he was a teenager. Sully Erna’s first album purchase was Aerosmith’s “Rocks” after a teacher encouraged him to pursue music.

Erna also said that Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning” was a favorite, though not right away. “I just remember thinking, ‘This is f***ing horrible. I don’t even know what I’m listening to,” Erna recalled. “It’s just madness going on.'” “Sure as hell, a couple of weeks later, I listened to it and listened to it, and I fell in love with it,” Erna added.

“To this day, Metallica is one of my favorite bands and probably my top favorite metal band in the world.” And Erna noted that Rush’s “Moving Pictures” inspired him to skip school to play drums. What albums were the most important to you as a teenager? How has your taste in music evolved over the years? Can you hear any of these albums in the music of Godsmack? Read more from BOB here.
