Pharrell Williams & Miley Cyrus Unveil “Doctor (Work It Out)”

“A Blast from the Past: Unearthing “Doctor (Work It Out)”

This collaboration isn’t their first rodeo; Williams and Cyrus have previously joined forces on the 2014 track “Come Get It Bae” from Pharrell’s album Girl. During a candid chat with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, they shared an interesting tidbit about “Doctor (Work It Out)”—the track has been in the vault since 2012. “We just knew it was early,” Williams explained, emphasizing the importance of timing and the right moment for a song’s release.

Cyrus chimed in, stressing the significance of serendipity and the right timing. She recalled how discussions about releasing the song began around the Grammys, leading to a realization that the present was the perfect moment for its debut. “And then sometimes things in our past make more sense in our present than they ever did then,” Cyrus reflected, highlighting the song’s essence of joy, celebration, and liberation, especially evident in its music video.

Miley Cyrus: Riding High on Grammy Success

“Doctor (Work It Out)” marks Miley Cyrus’s first new music since her big wins at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she took home accolades for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year with the lead single “Flowers” from her album Endless Summer Vacation. These achievements underscore Cyrus’s evolving artistry and her knack for creating music that connects with audiences worldwide.

This latest release by Pharrell Williams and Miley Cyrus not only celebrates their dynamic partnership but also showcases their growth as artists willing to explore and push boundaries. With “Doctor (Work It Out),” they invite listeners to share in their journey of rediscovery and the joy of music that stands the test of time.

Late last year, Dolly Parton released her version of Miley’s “Wrecking Ball.” Check that out here.
