Rob Reiner’s 1984 mockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap, is getting a sequel. Yes, you read that right. In late February, cameras will roll for Spinal Tap II. Reiner spilled the beans on the RHLSTP With Richard Herring podcast.

Star-Studded Surprise

Hold onto your hats. Paul McCartney and Elton John are joining the film. Alongside them? The original trio – Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer. They’re back as Nigel Tufnel, David St. Hubbins, and Derek Smalls. Reiner’s not just directing; he’s Marty DiBergi again, the man behind the camera in the movie.

Delays and Expectations

The plan was a 2024 release. It would mark 40 years since the original. But Hollywood strikes have other ideas. The release date? Up in the air, says Variety.
